DID YOU KNOW THAT WORKING IN SOCIAL CARE
IS NOT JUST ABOUT CARE WORK?

Few appreciate that social care is complex business and services are delivered by a whole team which all work towards on a social care model which promotes independence and wellbeing and is underpinned by safeguarding.

In fact, social care is a fundamental and important service, which plays a key role in supporting people to remain in their local community and in their own home for as long as possible. Not only that, social care is also fundamental to health services like our hospitals. Services provided keeps people out of hospital and helps the NHS to reach their national targets set by the government for example; to prevent bed blocking and manage pressures on services through the winter.

Whilst its true, social care does depend very much on people who choose to be care support workers, in fact it takes a whole team of people to deliver social care services. Each member of the team has a different role, responsibilities, training and rewards.

We believe it takes a special person to work as part of the social care family with special characteristics. Working in social care means we all need to understand the service the bigger picture and what role we play in the delivery so that colleagues can be supported to do their job to the best of their ability no matter what role individuals may have within the team.
